State of the Great Lakes 2017 Highlights Report
The Governments of Canada and the United States recently released the State of the Great Lakes 2017 Highlights Report. Overall, the Great Lakes are assessed as "Fair and Unchanging." While progress to restore and protect the Great Lakes has been made, including the reduction of toxic chemicals, challenges remain with issues such as invasive species and nutrients.

Binational Great Lakes Aquatic Invasive Species Forum
The 2017 Binational Great Lakes Aquatic Invasive Species Forum will be held on June 21, in Erie, Pennsylvania. The forum will bring together key stakeholders from the United States and Canada who are working on aquatic invasive species (AIS) issues, offering an opportunity to connect and share information.
U-M awarded $20M for federally funded Great Lakes research institute
The University of Michigan has been awarded a five-year, $20 million grant from the federal government to form a research institute focused on sustainable management of the Great Lakes.
